From Drawing to Order

The customer approached Fortex for a conveyor belt brush intended to clean a single conveyor at its main recycling facility. The preliminary drawing specified PP bristles, a 1,600 mm brush face, a 180 mm outside diameter, a 60 mm core, a 2,036 mm shaft, 50 mm shaft ends, and 218 mm shoulders on either side. Engineering restrictions allowed some details to be modified. The final request was for two 60/70-model brushes, each 2,262 mm overall, and one 80-model brush measuring 1,727 mm—using the same diameter and material, but with different roller and shaft lengths.

Our team reviewed the cleaning application, outside diameter, core size, shaft-end geometry, filament material, model differences, and quantity. We separated fixed machine-interface dimensions from flexible details, allowing a manufacturability review without losing the required fit. Delivery & Results: Efficient Production and Reliable Delivery

Pre-Shipment Dimension and Quality Verification

The order’s long steel shafts and wooden cases made it sensitive to carrier length limits. During the review, Fortex found that an earlier weight calculation had reversed the 60/70 and 80 model lengths. It disclosed the mistakereinstated the correct specifications of 2,262 mm and 1,727 mm, and supplied updated DHL and UPS options before dispatch. Handling the issue openly prevented carrier rejection, handling problems, and additional cost adjustments.

Transparent Response to the Airfreight Increase

After production, airfreight rates from China to the United States increased sharply. DHL’s available rate reached USD 1,850, but the customer had already paid USD 1,080 toward freight, leaving an additional USD 770 to cover. Fortex notified the buyer promptly, explained the change, and asked for instructions instead of switching to a more expensive service without approval.

Cost-Controlled Sea Freight Arrangement

The customer requested a slower shipping method within the amount already paid. Local UPS could not accept the oversized brushes, so Fortex arranged sea freight for USD 760, with a transit time of 45–50 daysBecause USD 1,080 had already been paid, both parties agreed to record the remaining USD 320 as credit toward a future order. This allowed the shipment to proceed without the additional airfreight cost.

Traceable Dispatch to the Port of Oakland

After the customer approved sea freight and requested shipping documents, Fortex arranged dispatch and provided tracking information. The vessel departed on June 29 and was scheduled to arrive at the Port of Oakland on July 22, giving the buyer a defined destination and an online method for following the shipment. The verified result was three completed custom brushes, finished-product photographs, an agreed sea-freight plan, and traceable dispatch to the confirmed U.S. port.
